2015 is quickly approaching.

Let the games begin!

Now that the Christmas Holiday is behind us, ’tis the season for gym memberships, diet plans , vision boards. relationship searches, new wardrobes, etc…

Out with the old and in with the new!

Exciting stuff…isn’t it?

It is until the end of January, if you make it that far, when you find yourself slipping back into your old hopeless routines and vowing to yourself, “I’ll give it a try next year.”

We’ve all done it. Marketers love it, creditors wait for it, psychiatrists chart it and we fall for it every year. We set ourselves up to fail. Not intentionally, I’m sure, but it happens.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a fresh start, a clean slate…evaluating your past and taking inventory of the parts that do and do not work. Shaking things up and clearing out the cobwebs from the past have been some of my most exhilarating moments, but I can assure you that none of these changes commenced January 1 of any given year.

Group think stifles and that is exactly what New Year’s resolutions and the marketing surrounding the idea are designed to do. Everyone jumps on the bandwagon of change January 1st. Maybe that voice in your head sounds something like…

“THIS year has got to be better than the last because I am starting early.”

“I am going to make my resolutions and stick to them. All I need is a little discipline, some coaching and an accountability partner and I should be good. My life is going to look better than it has before.”

“I’m closer to fifty than I am to twenty, so…”

Whatever your rational is for change, I can assure you that your start date is as unique as the change you seek.

Before beginning this year’s process of making your resolutions, I ask that you dedicate this year to becoming a student of your own life. To begin this simple yet complex process, take note of the following action steps.

  • Begin to pay attention to the rhythm of your own life
  • Pay attention to everything that crosses your path
  • Honor the journey that is uniquely yours
  • Finally, close the world out for an entire twelve months

Learning to harness the power of “your” life takes time and patience. I promise you that you will not go from 0 to 60 over night, but the changes to come will last. Once your eyes are open to the truth of who YOU were designed to be you will NEVER go back to being the person society convinced you that you were.

For example, God speaks to me through homeless people, drunk people and numbers. Once I truly began to embrace these unique ways of communication with God, my entire world opened up. God meets you where you are and is patiently waiting for you to acknowledge His presence. Your God voice is Heaven’s gift to you. Open it and see what’s inside.

Nothing is wasted in God’s economy. Not one thing. The time you were born, the date, the location, the name you were given, etc… all matters. The words you use, the beginnings and endings of processes, the vibration of truth, circles, cycles, increments of time, bridging heaven and earth…this is the year that lies ahead, should you choose to take the journey.

Stepping into the essence of who God created you to be is the most powerful and life changing gift you can give to yourself. Learning to honor and appreciate the unique relationship that you and God possess will open up Heaven and Earth in ways you once thought unimaginable.

If you are ready for true and lasting change, then spending this year with Always Journal will be one that you will never forget.
